Ping Pong Diet…Do as I Say Not as I Do
I started out with good intentions. I’ve been doing Weight Watchers two months ago. I’ve only lost 7 pounds. Thanksgiving is eight days away. Last week, I thought I’d change this up and give myself a boost. I’d do Atkins induction for the two weeks leading up. Solid. Right?
I couldn’t hack it. I made it three days and had to have some delicious cheesy popcorn. I went back on Weight Watchers on Monday.
Easy peasy!
Here’s the thing. A person’s innards are not made to go no carb, regular carb, no carb high carb within the span of three days. Their brain either. I think maybe I’m incoherent. Is that eleven fingers you’re holding up? I see a white light?

If it makes you feel any better, I could never hack it on Atkins . . . after 2 days I never wanted to see another egg again! Bleh!

From a lifetime WW member… WW works! Stick to it. All those other crazy diets are just that. Crazy.

I loved the rapid weightloss of Atkins, but I need to eat the same way I will forever! There’s no way I’m quitting carbs forever, though, so as soon as I have even a little, my body rejoices with some fresh weight gain!
I’m sticking out WW to the end this time. Will it take a while? I imagine. Sigh…

You are channeling your inner hunter/gatherer is all.
They totally did that – all carb, no carb, Run From the Tiger! no food at all followed by high protein (take THAT stupid Tiger!).
Of course they lived in caves with no running water or bathrooms.
Those folks on the “innards ain’t happy” list probably just slept closer to the mouth of the cave I guess.
I did Atkins until people were afraid I had one of those diseases you can only say in hushed tones.
Trick was, I never could find that magical “maintenance” carb load. I was either NO CARBS/losing weight or ANY CARBS/gaining weight back.
I think beware any eating program that insists you do any one thing all the time. I can’t do any one thing all the time except maybe breathe, or sleep, and honestly, I’m not sleeping all that well.
I am trying to drink more water (and a lot less wine) as my holiday coping mechanism. Seeing as the holidays haven’t really started yet, I’d say I am doing great so far.
