iGlisten on Fitness Week

3

We’re really thinking about exercise during Fitness Week at Does This Blog Make Us Look Fat? We’re not doing it yet but we’re thinking about it. If you notice you’ll see a little circle like this Glisten Badgeon the right sidebar. Click on it and you can get free fitness advice from WORLD CLASS ATHLETES Allyson and Wes Felix.

You may remember Allyson from a little thing called THE OLYPMICS!  Allyson won a Gold and Silver Medal at the 2008 Summer Games AND she’s been appointed by President Obama to the President’s Council for Physical Fitness and Health. Plus she’s got a Silver Medal from the 2004 Athens games.

glisten-wes_allysonAllyson and her brother Wes Felix, who is a Nike Sponsored Runner and 3x All American, have teamed up to offer free fitness advice to lumpy, unmotivated, moms like me.  We’re so excited to have an interview with Allyson and Felix, World Class Athletes on our rinky-dink little blog. This is big.

DTBMULF: What lessons can world class athletes teach an average mom about working out?
Wes and Allyson: Even though we make a living being professional runners there are still those days that we just don’t feel like doing it, and those days are not few and far between. I think the most important lesson that we can teach the average mom is to be committed. Most days you’re going to find something that you’d rather be doing other than working out, but set a goal and stick to it, you’ll love the end result! Another lesson that we can pass on is the importance of a good plan. We put a lot of faith in coaches and the plans that they layout for us.  One of the reasons that we started Glisten was to provide women with a great plan that they can follow on their journey to living healthier.
DTBMULF: How much time do we really have to devote to it?
Wes and Allyson: We train about 4 hours a day 5-6 times a week, but fortunately that’s not what it takes to be healthy. We recommend that you work out 3 or 4 times a week for 30-60 minutes. One really important thing to remember is that you’re not going to see results without putting in the work. What Glisten tries to do is help you to do the work in a timely manner while following a plan that you can trust and hopefully having a little fun while doing it all.
DTBMULF:  How do you stay motivated?
Wes and Allyson:  Motivation is a tough one. The key thing that we think about is the end goal. Training isn’t fun and most days we don’t feel like doing it, but we know that if we don’t put in the work day to day we won’t be able to reach our end result.
DTBMULF: Why launch iGlisten?
Wes and Allyson: Over the years we have had so many people ask what kind of workouts they can do to live healthier and shed pounds. After a while it hit us – fitness is something that women are really longing for, so we wanted to find a way to meet the need. Sports and Fitness have given us so many opportunities throughout our lives it only felt right that we find a way to use the knowledge that we’ve attained over the years to help others out.

Thank you Allyson and Wes. We  just signed up for their free newsletter, iGlisten.  Click on the badge on our right sidebar to get started if you want to do the same. Look out 2012 Olympics here we come! (Meaning we’ll watch it on t.v. but be in much better shape then when we watched it in 2008.)
