Diet Must Haves

You know that scene from The Jerk? The one where Steve Martin leaves home and grabs the things he can’t live without? His remote control, ashtray, folding chair? (Side bar: I tried to youtube that scene…you’d be surprised by the disturbing things that pop up just by searching “remote control”)

I started thinking about the dieting things I can’t live without. Right now, my list is short. It is not exactly health concious. It falls into two categories: 1.) Crap…I can’t lose those 5-10 pounds so what do I wear to dinner Friday night? and 2.) If I can’t eat anything else, I can eat this and not actually cheat on my diet.

Here goes…

1.) Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Jeans (OMG they a.) are confortable; b.) hold my gut in c.) run big….And (c) is usually enough anyway.  No, thank YOU Old Navy (note: I don’t think Old Navy actually sells the Amanda…I got mine at Costco. I hear Jackie O put the O in Costco. Look it up.)

popcorn2.) White Cheddar Popcorn (I want to make my bed out of this stuff. Honestly, Smatfood are you dusting that stuff with crack? You’d tell me right?)

3.) Fiber One Bar-Oats and Caramel (Ok. Except, I do not recommend eating more than 3 in a 24 hour period. Just sayin’)

Oh…I also need my DVR. I have no idea what that has to do with dieting…but I gotta have it. Ooooh…Rock Star with Marky Mark is on at 3:oo a.m. tonight!

What are your Diet/Weight Loss Must haves?

  1. Fresh apples and whatever 94-percent FF microwave popcorn is on sale!

    1) Cropped jackets are great! Hides everything but not bulky. I wore those a lot when I was working off the baby weight.

    2) Chick peas can go a long way…and so do full bags of salad. Too bad they’re so expensive per bag. I plow threw them. But my other OBSESSION is 100 cal. kettle corn popcorn. If I could eat bags all day and make my points, that would be about 10 bags, but that’s ok! I finally just bought an air popper so I can make it myself and save some money.

My dieting must-haves: Cranberry mustard by Dietz and
Watson. Tastes good, and is like 5 calories per serving.
I eat it on wraps, as dip for baby carrots, etc.

    Strawberries. Love, love, love strawberries.

My Intak water bottle. I find the little sliding “mark
how many waters I’ve had” ring on the cap to be really
    useful.

    Fat free rediwhip. Must have.

I love that Smartfood too – but I don’t think it’s diet food! It has almost exactly the same nutrition facts as a bag of potato chips. It’s fluffier, so you can eat a bit more volume, but not a whole lot. My diet stand-by is low fat microwave popcorn. It’s ready quickly and you can eat an awful lot of it for not too many calories.

Seriously, that popcorn is covered in crack! It’s soo freaking good! Right there with you!

Diet must haves? Good question. Spices, specifically Old Bay and Garlic. I can make any food taste better with those two spices.

Bananas. Love them. I don’t have them everyday, but I’m pretty good at buying them (and eating them) when I go to the grocery store.

If I could find it easier, Ched Airs. Drool…Love them! 3.5 cups is 2-3 points. And trust me, you need a mixing bowl to hold all those!

  6. One diet must-have: grapefruit. Oh and Stevia since I the grapefruit is way too sour without the Stevia.

Ever since that study came out about eating a half a grapefruit before every meal caused the study participants to lose weight I am hooked. Probably all in my head, but I could eat worse things!

  7. I am mildly obsessed with anything that contains fiber, and so I LOVE fiber bars! Definitely agree about no more than 3, it may cause gastrointestinal distress… :D

  8. Christie says:

I love those FiberOne bars too! For me the #1 Diet Must-Have is . . . a dog. My dog needs to be walked everyday (built in exercise.) She never notices or cares if a little of my lost weight finds me again. She thinks I’m great — even when I’m not feeling it. Basically, a dog is a dieter’s best friend!

OK, I gotta chime in with the Smartfood White CHeddar–THAT IS SOOO NOT DIET FOOD!!! You’re going to be mad at me for saying it. Take it to any weight watcher’s meeting and ask the leader. It’s NOT. Get it out of your house NOW.

    Bad! Bad! Bad!

And of course it’s dusted with Crack so you keep buying it. You’re better off buying Orville Reddenbacher SmartPop 94% fat free Kettle Korn or Butter flavored where you can eat the WHOLE bag for about 1-2 points. Seriously, do yourself a favor and NEVER buy SmartFood Cheddar again.

I know you hate me now.

  10. Manic Mommy says:

And don’t Fiber One bars make you fart all day long? But I love ‘em too!

  11. I L.O.V.E. Smartfoods White Cheddar Popcorn!!! I can only find the 100 calorie packs here. It’s scrumptious!

  12. Oh, and just an FYI, the 100 calorie packs of the Smartfood White Cheddar popcorn is 2 points.

  13. diane says:

    My diet must-haves:
100-cal Hostess chocolate cupcakes (the best when you have a chocolate or cake craving and only 1 point)
Laughing Cow Light Swiss Cheese wedges (a point) and spreadable. Amazing on sandwiches (no mayo needed) or celery or pretzels!
