I don’t necessarily always “resist”, I just make sure that if I’m going to give in, I only give in a little.
For instance, I work at Panera Bread, and it’s almost impossible to resist the really yummy stuff! So I go ahead and give in, but I don’t eat the entire thing. We just got back the Orange Cranberry Muffins, which, in my opinion, are to die for! I buy one muffin, cut it into quarters, and when I want some, I only eat one of the quarters. Granted, they don’t stay fresh for a very long time, but I’ve found that if I take each quarter and put it into a ziploc type bag, I can actually freeze them, which does help them stay fresh longer!
I can’t completely resist, I spent so many years “indulging” myself, eating what I wanted, when I wanted it. So I’ve found that if I just indulge in very small amounts, I still get what I want, without adding all the calories!

I agree Holly. I do try to pick things that are not either really salty or really sugary. Even if I have a bite
only it seems like the craving is then in my
    brain…more salt!
    more sugar please!
    It all tastes like MORE!!
Lots of water helps to wash down that bite and it seems I feel like I am full.

On group situations, I try to supply the snacks like veggies and dip and fruit etc. because really even if your friends are skinny, they do not need to eat fat and carbs either. :)

I chew gum or suck on hard candy when I crave the good stuff…. I try the portion control thing too, but can easily loose control and eat it all!
