Valerie Bertinelli is my New BFF
I (Robin) have been a bit bloggy absent for the last week. Luckily, Rebecca is awesome.
Anyway, part of the reason for my absence is my new diet plan. I bought the People Magazine w/ Valerie B. on the cover. That was it, I was hooked, sold. I signed up for Jenny Craig the next day. I’m currently on Day 6 and eating a cup full of mushrooms, cucumbers, a chicken brocolli hot-pocket thing and a Diet Cherry Zero.
My verdict thus far…. I likey. I’ve been telling my husband for years, if he’d just let me eat my own food and not have to cook or participate in feeding the family, I’d be rail thin. He’s always complained that would be too expensive. Plus, apparently he and the kids like to eat periodically. Piff, piff, this time I told him, “It’s for the BLOG dear.”
Anyway…I like the food. I like that it’s MY food. I’m kinda pretending I’m single and living in my own apartment in the upper West Side of Manhattan.
Plus…look!!!! This is what was delivered to my door last Wednesday. Frankly, EVERYTHING looks better in a giant fed ex box. If the diet doesn’t work, I’m just going to wear it.
And here was the yummy goodness inside of it.
My helpful husband reminded me that I had to spread out my eating of it over two weeks. Smart a@#!
I weigh in on Wednesday. I’m hoping for an 8 lb. loss (secretly 10) by Memorial day.

I have considered Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers in the past. Had a bunch of friends who have participated in both, but I lost most of my own weight by doing it on my own. The bad part is, for some odd reason, to me it was easier losing the 175 pounds than it is trying to maintain it. It’s usually able to stay controlled around 160 (my maintaining goal is 145-150), but by the time the weekend comes around and Monday morning arrives, I wake-up from my zombie weekend binge and have gained 10-15 pounds of water. Aye… I just found your blog site this morning and found it very helpful. Bless you!
I tried Jenny Craig once. It lasted all of two weeks. The good thing is it gets you on a food routine and it’s easy. The bad thing for me was sometimes I wasn’t in the mood to eat what was planned, and I don’t like peppers, which seem to be in a lot of the entrees.
I switched to weight watchers, where I’m still on a food routine, but since I decide on the food each day, instead of once a week, I feel like I have more flexibility. That’s working better for me.
I do like the single and living in Manhattan idea. Now that would be fun!
