The British Diet
Tuesday status report: I am on day 11 of Atkins’ Induction and I’m down about 4 lbs.
Also…a Tuesday quickie. I’m no longer going to weigh myself. Let me clarify, I no longer want to weigh myself. At least, I don’t want to weigh myself with an American scale. You Brits have it figured out better, in my opinion. I want to weigh myself in stones. One stone is the equivalent of 14 pounds (You realize I’m sort of doing math for you people…this early in the morning. That’s how much I care.)
Here’s my hypothetical…
A person weighing 12 stones might have a goal weight of 9 stones. They’re only 3 stones away from goal (as opposed to 40 plus pounds!). I envision a bathroom scale with rocks on it instead of numbers. I see this as a double bonus ‘cuz if I don’t like what it says, I can throw rocks at it. Handy!
Who’s with me?

And think about how much wiggle room we would have at each weigh in!!
PMS??? No problem!
Birthday celebration??? No problem!
Bad day??? NO problem!!…you won’t gain a whole rock this week anyway!!
but it would take a reaaaaalllly long time to lose one stone. no instant gratification there, that’s for sure.
Although I do like the number a whole lot better. 9 stones vs. 126 pounds? Not that I’m anywhere close to either of those numbers but, yeah, that would work.
Great post and responses. You don’t feel nearly as bad weighing yourself in stones but I prefer outer space weight myself. Lack of gravity and all. Love your blog, it is hilarious and pertinent.

LOL! You do realize, of course, that Brits use pounds between stones, right? For instance, I have lost 95.5 pounds which is 6 stone 11 1/2 pounds. Only 2 1/2 more pounds until I reach 7 stone lost.
