The Most Weight You’ve Ever Lost

20

Fifteen Pound FoeWhat is the most weight you’ve ever lost on a diet? Other people’s success stories inspire me. I always flip to that section first in the Weight Watcher magazine.

I’ll go first. I’ve lost 16 pounds three times in my life. (gained it back of course) Those other times 16 pounds put me near my goal so I quit the diet or “healthy choice” making. I’ve NEVER made Lifetime Maintenance with Weight Watchers or Atkins. And of course I gained back those pounds and then some.

Until this weekend, I’m now at 18 pounds down. This is a new “Most Weight I’ve Ever Lost.” But here’s the thing, I used to only need to drop 20 pounds I NOW need to lose uh, more pounds. Eighteen pounds isn’t enough!

But I broke the old barrier of 16 pounds which was my historical quit the diet danger zone. This is encouraging.

So I’m on a 20 pound watch. When I clock a 20 pound loss it will be be exciting for me and also a big turning point.

Will I stop making “healthy choices” or will I press on?

So what’s the most weight you’ve ever lost and can you do it again? What gets you over the hump?

I lost 40 pounds on WW once. I exercised a lot during that time too. Sadly once I quit counting points and exercising every day I gained it all back and then some. Eventually I had bariatric surgery and lost over 200 pounds. It’s not for everybody, but for me it was the right thing and probably saved my life~certainly my quality of life.

I’ve lost over 40 pounds on two separate occasions. Of course since then I’ve put that 40 back on and tacked on another 40+ for good measure. I’m currently on a quest to loose my ‘excess’ weight, but think 80 pounds might be a little too lofty a goal for at this stage of my life.

Back in 2001 I lost 80 pounds. I am now on a journey to lose the weight again, but this time I need to lose more than 80 pounds. I’m the heaviest I have EVER been. Over 100 pounds to lose and since January I’ve lost 25 of those pesky pounds. I’ve been off and on dieting this year. I haven’t been really consistent, but the pounds are coming off slowly. I just hope it keeps on.

Congrats on the new milestone! So far, the most I’ve lost is 23. I’m working on that same 23 plus 2 more for good measure this time. I did reach lifetime with WW 15 years ago, but since then I’ve realistically adjusted my lifetime goal up 10 lbs, so I’m heading there once again!

First off congrats on your new milestone! I know how good and motivating it feels to reach new goals. My largest weight loss was 108 lbs. I did this in roughly a year starting in May of 2000. I didn’t do anything fancy other than eating better (and a WHOLE lot less), exercised and wouldn’t eat anything after 7pm. Sounded right but in reality all I was doing was starving myself and ever slowing my metabolism by losing muscle as well as fat. In the time since then I’ve gained it all back and really don’t feel too good about things either. I struggle daily over it all as well

Back in 2003, I joined WW and lost 30 pounds. Luckily for me, the weight loss fixed my fertility issues and I got pregant. Once I was done nursing (in late 2004) I joined WW again and lost 30 more! So 60 is my most ever. I have put on about 15 of that right now, but I am aware of that and am focusing on getting it off!

  7. I have lost over 4 stone … and still going …hopefully!

All loss is great as long as it stays off.. so good luck everyone!

Wow, just found your site and it looks like a great one. I have lost over 100 lbs. twice in my life, but gained it all back. I tend to yo-yo in the extreme, obviously. Right now I am what my mama calls “hawg fat” but I am trying to get the weight off. I am reading an excellent book called The Gabriel Method, which is a non dieting approach – basically he helps you re-train your eating habits and do some mediatation and visualization. It’s really excellent.

    Look forward to reading more!

I’ve lost 59 pounds on Weight Watchers this time so far. I lost 55 in 1998 but gained all but 10 of those pounds back. I’m at the lowest weight I’ve been in in 25 years. Last time, I hit a goal weight (not the ultimate one) for an event and stopped right after. Between 1998 and 2008, I lost and gained the same 25 pounds three times. This is the first time, I’ve really set fitness as a goal instead of just weight loss. It’s also the first time I’ve made exercise a focal point to get to my goal. I have 21 pounds to go. This time I’m getting there and not gaining the weight back.

  10. Chris says:

I lost a total of 55 pounds, then gained 30 pounds of it back. I am now back down a total of 47 pounds, on my way to getting the rest of the 55 off, and then an additional 20.

Great job on getting to 18! That’s awesome!

    Good job girl!
Most I’ve ever lost is my current and FINAL time of having to go thru this, as I’m changing my lifestyle, not dieting. I’ve lost 33.4 lbs so far! Lots more to go but that’s ok cuz I have a life time to do it, it’s my new lifestyle that’s made it possible!

  12. GretaKiki says:

I am so inspired. Really. It just makes me feel like we’re all so friggin’ awesome!! Thank you for sharing these successes with me.

  13. I’ve lost 34 though I’m not at my goal yet. I’ve never been on a diet before now, and I don’t feel like I’m on one now. I suppose I’m just changing the normal…
And it’s been great so far. :)

Good work losing 18, and remember that you only have to take it one day at a time. :)

When I first discovered I had food allergies at the age of 15, I lost 35 pounds pretty quickly not knowing what I could really eat. Unfortunately, once I discovered the world of the Health Food store, I regained a lot of this. Now after 2 kids, I’m down 12.4 pounds after 6 weeks of FREE Weight Watchers thanks to you fine ladies. I’m even going to keep going after my free 3 months runs out. I’m extremely happy with the program and my exercise free weight loss!

  15. I lost 63 lbs and managed to keep 53 of them off for going on 5 years!! Feels great and I will never go back to the weight I was. I will always bounce around with 10 lbs or so but that is OK with me! After all food never tastes as good as thin feels!!!

  16. Cathie says:

I’ve just finished losing 33 pounds, the most ever. I’m a bit below goal now. (I got to goal once before, but didn’t have to lose this much to do it.) This time is different. I finally “got it”. It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. The New Momentum plan came along and Core went away, as well as my reliance on keeping track in my head. I hated tracking and said I could never do it and wouldn’t do it. When I saw Book 1 of the Momentum plan, and compared the 4 point breakfasts, I decided I COULD do it. It would be worth it, and it has been. I lost those 33 pounds since the first week in December with 3 tools: Tracking, Weighing and Measuring, and making the Best Choice for me whatever the situation, Sometimes the best choice for me is having a dessert so I won’t feel deprived, sometimes it’s not having the dessert. When going out to dinner, I make the best choice for me on the menu. I’ve been delighted that the best choices are often very tasty. I still don’t have portion control down, that’s why I need to weigh and measure. But Tracking has become an obsession, and it really works. I always figured that as you got older, the weight was harder to take off. It isn’t. It’s just that our habits are more ingrained. I’m 62 years old, and to lose 30 pounds in 5 months I think is AMAZING. I’m even walking 2 to 3 miles every day now and I’m so much more healthy. I got rid of my fat clothes as they became too big for me because I know I’ll never need them again. I even blew past the “skinny” clothes I had stashed away. So, you can and will press on. It’s totally worth it, especially for your health, both short term and long term.

  17. Todd Tuskey says:

I have lost exactly 90 pounds since July of 2010. I hit that weight earlier this year in January ,so 90 lbs in roughly six months.
The diet was easy – got rid of regular pop (was drinking close to a six pack a day. Changed to Coke Zero, and now I’m pretty much off of it – water/tea only). Watched my portions, stopped the late night snacking.
Plus a whole ton of exercise. Joined Lifetime Fitness, and a three day a week Team Fitness class, 14 week course.

    That’s amazing! Great job Todd!
