LowCarb Woman vs. The Evil Malitrol

2

In the mid nineties, (the first time I tried low carb eating), I don’t recall there being very many options for sweets. You could have sugar free jello and some redi-whip. That was it. Now, you can’t throw a dead cat in a supermarket w/out hitting low-carb, low sugar protein bars (also management tends to frown on the throwing of dead cats near the nutritional supplement aisle…true story).

Anyway, now researchers are cautioning us low-carbers to be careful when consuming low carb “chocolate” or diet supplement bars containing sugar alcohol. Many of these foods contains malitol (which is some sort of secret voo doo chocolate-like substance that I’m pretty sure is similar to Olestra in terms of what it does to your innards…if you want more early 90′s nostalgia).  Apparently, malitrol tastes like sugar, your body thinks it’s sugar, you might as well just eat sugar. It also has certain {cough}  side effects of (in some people and in enough quantities). toilet

I guess I’m back to jello and whipped cream.

Lol nice post! You should look into the muscle memory science behind P90X. I’ve had both a friend and family member tell me that it shows results if you’re patient!

  2. I think it’s a cousin to the Evil Sorbitol. I have to stay away from sugar free candies…
