The Muffin Top Strikes Back
I lost the weight I wanted to lose this year. From June to the first week in September I have been good as gold and nary a carb has crossed my lips. But, when the kids started back to school, I started eating pizza, and tortilla chips, and honey buns and…well you get the gist.
Here’s the deal though. I haven’t gained any weight back yet. It’s like my body got so used to operating on low carbs, it has forgotten what to do with them. It’s as if I’ve stumbled into some metabolic limbo or weight gain grace period. I’m guessing that if I keep eating the way I am, the weight is going to pop back on overnight.
I know it’s only a matter of time before my body adapts and figures out what I’m doing. My muffin top is like a velociraptor. It’s going to adapt soon and seep its way back into my jeans, bigger and muffinier than ever.
And I’m taunting it. How long do you think it will take? (Seriously, what could possibly go long with this strategy??)

Good luck with that strategy! LOL!
I wish that strategy worked for me. Once I started eating carbs again after losing 25 pounds on Atkins, it was impossible to stop. It may have taken a couple of weeks but the weight did come back and fast once it got rolling. And I ended up heavier than I was when I started. Sorry to be a downer. Maybe your body will be kinder to you! One can only hope.
Well, having done exactly the same thing. I got a WiiFit
ate really really healthy, and 6 months later, the best
was my BMI, as I have never been a ’scale’ girl (having
been a child model didn’t help me – I never even had
a chance at being anorexic, as some of my peers did.
Back then, the healthy look followed Twiggy. Regardless,
I did use some carbs, as there are healthy ones, but
also slipped into a few great pig-out sessions – and
nothing, nothing… Amazing. The French stay slim
while eating 3 bites of everything, so perhaps the
‘everything in moderation’ applies after the weight loss.
Besides that, there are sooooo many great l00 calorie
packs, I honestly think I was set up to succeed, regardless
of carbs.
First time commenter, but I feel so so much better
health-wise . (was in a car accident and couldn’t
do much more than once in awhile get off the couch)
People fed me, I ate. I didn’t even realize how
much (I’m great with clothes) but when I saw obese
on that WiiFit, and looked at the number, nothing was
stopping me. There isn’t a moment I don’t appreciate
the results (as does every one I know – mostly, my
son who is now 23 saying honestly that he still cannot
believe what I have done, and how proud he is of me)
Back to the question. Moderation. and l00 calorie
smiling at you.
packs.
Great blog.
