Low Carbon Eating

1

In my never-ending quest to give you the latest and greatest diet information available on the interwebs (and more often then not detail how I have failed miserably at implementing it)…I bring you the Low Carbon Calculator.

What’s that you say? You already know how to calculate your carbs?? They have little labels on the packaging already???

I’m not talking carbohydrates…I’m talking carbon emissions.

earthThe peeps at Bon Appetit Management have figured out how to assign “points” to the foods we eat. Instead of measuring carbs or calories, they’ve figured out how to correlate specific foods with the amount of greenhouse gasses used to produce said food. In other words, the lower point foods require fewer greenhouse gasses to make and are therefore better choices for the planet.

Which is all fine and dandy. I really like playing with the calculator. Give it a try!  (Note: I had way more fun than I should admit just loading the little skillet to infinity and watching the simulated thermometer explode. But, that’s just me.) Also, most of the foods recommended are the type of healthy eating choices I should be making anyway.
