How the 2009 Celebrity Diets Can Help You Lose Weight
The celebrity diet highlight of 2009 had to be early in the year when Valerie Bertinelli graced the March 25th issue of People Magazine wearing a bikini. She says she owes it all to working out and Jenny Craig.
How Valerie helps us lose: She’s 48. It’s a bikini. Plus it also shows how a 30 or 40 pound loss can change your life! What’s interesting if you read about how Bertinelli got bikini ready – exercise. She went from just watching the food and walking to really pumping up her workouts. It also made us feel young because we SO had a girl crush on Barbara Cooper from One Day at a Time and those memories came roaring back!
Kirstie Alley’s Appearance on Oprah – Shortly after Valerie Bertinelli won her weight loss battle Kirstie Alley was on Oprah to talk about her recent yo-yo. We were riveted.
How Kirstie helps us lose: It is very important to see that all plans don’t fit all people. Although Jenny Craig was wildly successful for both women it was also not the final solution. Kirstie admitted she need to do something different and that she pretty much dropped her good habits. Alley is now doing a reality show for A&E about her new mission to lose. There’s no doubt Kirstie’s struggles mimic anyone who’s ever gained and lost and gained again. We’ll be watching. Also we’ll be hoping that if Kirstie wants to stay at the weight she is – she does! Where’s the rule that says we all have to be one size?
Bonnie Hunt Shares Weight Loss Journey with Viewers – Bonnie Hunt is our favorite. When she started the second season of her talk show she shared her goal to lose a little weight. She described her exericse, food, and feelings about diet. Her warmth and humor made dieting with her like dieting with your best friend. (Though just between us Bonnie didn’t look like she needed to lose anything.)
Which one’s Bonnie?
How Bonnie helps us lose: She’s warm and funny and she’s got a special glow which comes from the inside. No matter what size you are you can be gorgeous. Warmth is gorgeous. She also understands that support is key and shared her journey while encouraging others who were working on becoming healthier. Helping others reach their goals helps you reach yours. Trust us on this! Trust Bonnie on this!
Kelly Ripa’s Arms n’ Junk – At first glance Kelly Ripa’s body has no relation to any human body we know. It’s tiny toned perfection. But somehow seeing her go from skinny weakling to sculpted fitness nut is inspiring.

How Kelly helps us workout: If you go on the treadmill thinking “I’m going to look like Kelly Ripa” we’re concerned for you. HOWEVER if you lift that weight thinking “I’m going to develop my arm muscles ala Kelly Ripa” we’re thinking you’re cooking with gas baby. And by the way we’re still hoping someone will buy us that Physique 57 DVD as a belated Christmas present. Is this thing on?

I like your spin on things – I usually don’t pay attention to celebrety fitnes. I don’t have a personal trainer, personal chef, sponsors, a workout room, and people watching me constantly, and I know it’s not very realistic to expect the same results, so I don’t bother. There’s something a little…weird…about it all, too.
Women can be beautiful at ay size. I wish the media and celebs would tout that philosophy a little more.

It takes -3500 calories to loose a pound, which means you need to both burn calories by working out & take less calories in by eating in order to loose weight.
Eat fruits & veggies of course. It’s typical to eat a small breakfast and a big dinner, but my health teacher said you actually want to do the opposite. And never skip breakfast, it helps you loose weight. I stopped drinking pop and lost 50 pounds in 1 year!! Don’t drink juice. You’d think fruit juice is good for you, but its not. It has alot of sugar and extra calories. People say dont eat carbs’ not true, 60% of your diet is supposed to be from some type of carbs… just make sure you eat whole grain or whole wheat bread. And drink only skim milk, all others aren’t so great for you. Just watch what you eat and pay attention to nutrition labels!
Make sure you do some weight bearing activities along with cardio, it’ll help build muscle and burn fat! If you cant buy a gym membership try going for a walk or run outside, doing jumping jacks, jump rope, running up & down your stairs, lifting weights, doings situps & pushups.. those are just some ideas that’ll help!
