Eddie the Eagle where are you?

The pre-packaging of the Olympics has been getting on my nerves. It seems the coverage of the events is directed toward the events with athletes who we’re supposed to like, athletes whom the Powers That Be have determined are sell-able.

Why not let the athletes and their sports speak for themselves? The greatest thing about watching the Olympic is the unkown. Heroes emerge because of their unexpected win, their grit, their flair or even their hair.

To me, it is so much more fun when a surprise sports star rises due to the collective will of the sports-watching public. Let us discover who we like.
