Focus On Five
Recently I’ve been spending time with people who’ve lost 100 pounds or more. Each lost weight in a different way. But they have several things in common. One of the thing they all said is focus on the little goals. Each pound, mile walked, size down, binge avoided is a positive step.
SO no matter if you have 50 pounds or 1o pounds to lose one step at a time is the only way to get there. So let’s forget about our “big number” and focus on a manageable goal for a few days here.
Join me in Focus on Five – or #focusonfive if you’re on Twitter. We’re going to do what we need to do to lose a good five pounds. We’re also going to train our brain to think of ONLY that. Calm your anxiety about the big number or the self-doubt about how far you have to go and Focus on Five. Whether it is two weeks or one week or a month we’re going to make losing five pounds the goal. I know you can lose five pounds. You know you can do it too.
Imagine the good feeling you’ll have losing five pounds. And we don’t want any crazy diets. Lose the five pounds in a way that works for you, in a way that is healthy.
We’re going to support each other here and on Twitter. Use the hashtag #focusonfive and leave comments about how you’re going to Focus on Five and reach that goal.
Personally – I pumped up my exercise and ran yesterday for the first time in a long while – you? How are you going to Focus on Five with me?

I might just be ready for this….I’ve been spinning my wheels for far too long now.

focus on five sounds great! I just got my first compliment after having lost 15 pounds in the past 17 weeks, so now I’m even more motivated to lose. I’ve really been working hard this week at tracking my food and putting in the time at the gym. One day at a time…
Just back from the gym…but the hard part for me is tracking my food! My inner 14-year-old keeps screaming at me “You can’t MAKE me!”
*sigh*

This is a GREAT idea- I love it! I’m in and going to do it by making better meal choices, reducing calories and trying harder to get to my goal of at least 7,000 steps a day.
THANKS FOR THIS! =)
Okay you sold me. I am in! My focus on the 5 are a different 5 but it will result in the same goal.
My 5 are the five senses that we use to learn when we were little.
Now, I am excited!

I could maybe lose five pounds, but more than that, I could benefit from a more precise focus on the five things things that got me here: nutrition, exercise, tracking against goals, rest, and blogging. I’m in the middle of a home renovation and while I’m doing “okay” in all areas, I’d feel better if I was doing all of them at once.
So in that respect, I’m in!

Since Sept. 09, I’ve lost 30 lbs and now exercise 3 days a week and working toward walking on the other days. I visually pictured that 5 lb. picture 6 times to see a 30 lb. loss. That will keep me going to lose more with not only exercising bur using a food chart and journaling. It is an all consuming project but the opposite is fatal!
I really love this idea. I’m recommitting to getting back in shape (again) and setting new goals, with the added motivation of looking good in photos this fall when I get married.
Small goal by small goal, we can do it!
over the recent months, i have gained lots of body fats due to lack of exercise,~”
to help reduce body fat, all you need to do is exercise regularly:::
body fat is always not good to the body, it leads to other diseases.*’
I’m in! 5 pounds is doable especially since I have dropped 19 pounds in 10 weeks. Reducing the amount of meat while still making sure I get enough protein has been the easiest part of my overall plan.
Great Job BARB!!!!!
