Insane in the Membrane

When it comes to exercise how hard are you pushing yourself? I am not pushing myself very hard at all. I mean I’m watching The Biggest Loser and although some still need to lose over 100 pounds to reach their goals they’re working out HARD. I have been running/walking and can run (very slowly) three miles if the wind is right, it’s not too hot, not too cold, or my eyes don’t feel too itchy. Also if I can’t find my favorite workout clothes it’s a deal breaker.

That is not going to get me to smoking hot. SO I’ve started a new workout DVD. It’s actually ten DVDs and I got it used so it was a little less expensive. It’s called Insanity. I picked it up because it was 60 days which seemed reasonable. Two months seems like a good amount of time to see results if you are consistent. Also it doesn’t require me to do pull ups or have special equipment. I am certain that if my family’s lives depended on me doing a single pull up they’d be doomed.

So today was the fit test – not the actual workout mind you – the fit test. Good News: I did not actually hurl. Bad News: I have the upper body strength of an overcooked spaghetti noodle.

So we’ve been hearing that we have to start by doing a little bit at a time to get fit. And I’ve bought into that but maybe I’m letting that be an excuse to not do too much, to not do nearly enough? If you watch what O’Neil accomplished on The Biggest Loser you know that we all have more strength than that little bit we’re doing.

So I’m doing this Insanity DVD for 60 days. The fit test seemed really hard. But I did do it. Now I’m off to take measurements, weigh-in, and take a “before picture.”   I may hurl yet.

****I AM NOT A DOCTOR NOR A FITNESS EXPERT. DOING SOMETHING MERELY BECAUSE I AM COULD KILL YOU DEAD. HAVE A NICE DAY.*****

Good For YOU! I’ve been staring at the Insanity DVDs for a month now, debating whether to buy or not. I too need to step it up…The people on Loser have been my inspiration–made me realize that I can’t hide behind health problems forever! I hope you continue to share how the “insanity” is working for you!

You know, when I think about it, I’ve never seen a DVD that wasn’t thin! People that do them, not so much.

So are you still doing it?

Even though I do HIIT, I have to admit that Insanity infomercial scared me really bad.
