Stop Thinking About Food
For me one downfall of dieting is it requires me to think about food. Sure I think about food, diet or not. I like food. Heck I more than like food. I have a crush on food. But when you’re counting calories or carbs or journaling or trying to eat 17 small meals a day thinking about food turns to obsessing about food. You become Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction menacing the ice cream in the freezer with a, “I will not be IGNORED. Dan.”
Today I’m going to put food out of my mind until it’s time to eat. How? Today instead of planning, counting, journaling, or measuring I’m just eating what my husband tells me to. My husband does not battle his weight. And a short while back one of our kids wanted to drop a few pounds so the kid ate only what my husband instructed. Three meals a day for a couple days and BAM weight gone. So I’m doing the same. I’m eating what my husband says.
That’s right. Today my mind is going to be free of worrying about the next meal, snack, or nutritional information. I imagine with all this extra brain space I’ll learn a second language or how to crochet. But I will not be obssessing about food. No, I’ve got my own life. I don’t care what food does. What? You heard food was dating someone else? Well let’s just drive by food’s house and see if food’s home….
Oh and here’s what I had for breakfast, scambled eggs. But whatever. I don’t care. I’m not thinking about it.

your husband has one of the best opportunities for comedy ever. if i were him, you’d be eating a steady diet of crab cakes, broccoli, and bacon

Rebecca, you are too funny! The good news is that a “drive-by” is very low calorie! (Just guessing, of course!)

I totally agree. The more I think about food and plan food and want food. The more I EAT! But when I’m not planning or thinking about food I EAT! I think I’m caught between a carton of ice cream and hard place.
That’s so funny!
Do you think it would work the other way round too? If I put food out of my mind, I would finally start to gain weight?

What a great idea! I know what you mean about becoming obsessive about food! Been there, trying to get away from it. Good luck, let us know how it goes!
Good luck with that! I hope it helps! LOL! (I know all about the trouble with having to be obsessed about food to control your weight).
