Mom’s Not Ready

T-minus two days until hundreds of friends, family, neighbors and teenagers arrive for the graduation open house. As I look back on my son’s school experience, I’m left with a jumble of memories and notebook paper.
Most lessons learned were not just for him but for me, too.

In Young Fives, I learned that watching your tow-headed 4-year-old climb up a giant step to get on the bus will cause you to have a complete emotional breakdown. “What if he’s not ready?”

In kindergarten, I learned that a loving teacher who also was a mom to boys is a good thing. My son learned that writing the letter “k” was kind of a drag, so instead of Nick he went with Nico. “C” is so much easier.
