But, I feel like I must tell you this sad story. Just in case. As if you would listen or pay attention or learn from my mistake.

A few years back, when I was living in Toledo, I purchased an expensive Viking range that was reputedly exactly like the one that both Madonna and Bruce Springston owned. Nothing happened. I didn’t become a better cook. I didn’t become a better singer. The only good that came from it is that I managed to mock my ex-husband by owning a fancy commercial range and rarely, if ever, using it for cooking. (I did manage to use it to show off and continue to do so as I have just done here.)
