52 Mondays – My Fitness Pal Results – Week 3

My Fitness Pal is a free online food and exercise tracker. I have done many different versions of online trackers and My Fitness Pal is so far my favorite. It handles the basics like allows you to find calorie counts, create favorite foods and meals, and also allows for your calories burned doing exercise. But two things make My Fitness Pal a standout in my book.

Number one thing I love about My Fitness Pal is simplicity. You sign in and go. There are very few confusing screens and no cluttered pages of multiple options of things you can do. This site keeps you focused on why you are there. (Which is to get into a smaller size because if not why in the flipping flarg would you track your food??)  Journaling your food and exercise has proven to be a great way to see results. If you need simple and easy tracking this is a great place for it. You don’t have to do one other thing than that to enjoy the site. But I highly recommend my second favorite thing about My Fitness Pal….

The second reason I love this site is the Facebook/Twitter type environment.  You don’t have to partake in the community but it really makes all the difference. I made a few quick friends and I see when they’ve burned some calories exercising or if I completed my journal and stayed in my calorie budget it shows up and they chime in. I love it! It’s like Twitter/Facebook community all focused on one goal. Of course MFP has forums and blogs but my absolute fave is the quicky tweet type stuff.

The site also allows me to count carbohydrates which I appreciate since as a Short Attention Span Dieter sometimes I’m all about that.  The only criticism one could level at MFP  is probably that there aren’t a lot of “experts.”  At major diet plan sites you’ll be in with nutritionists or counselors if needed. But I gotta tell you I like just being on with fellow dieters.

Finally if you decide to try My Fitness Pal request me as a friend. I’m LaughItOff. And just for fun – if I could MAKE my perfect Fitness Pal – thar she blows!

Metrics: I was 1&2 when I started last week and I’m 1%9 today - yep almost 3 pounds off this week. HOLLA!
