How to Stoke Your Anxiety for Weight Loss!

4

I cop to eating while bored or anytime oxygen is present in my environment. So yeah. I eat all the time. HOWEVER when I’m anxious I’m FINALLY able to control my appetite. While nervousness leads some folks to nosh for me freaking out means I don’t pig out. Unfortunately I am not nervous frequently enough to do much good.

Currently I AM nervous and it’s working like a charm. I’ve lost several pounds.  But this anxiety likely won’t last SO I’m planning on ways to magnify my nerves in a more consistent way. I may feel uneasy but it’s for the greater good. I’ll look great. I’ll feel like crap but I’ll LOOK great. Yeah – that’s it.

10  Ways to Ignite Anxiety Induced Weight Loss

1. Convince yourself you’re going to wear a bikini in public. (Just think – worked for Valerie Bertinelli - can work for you. Remember it doesn’t have to be true to freak you out!)

2. Watch 24 Hour Cable News this afternoon. (You’ll be whipped into a frenzy of impending doom. Stock market – foreign affairs – everything is eminently disastrous or CURRENTLY disasterous.)

3. Relive the most emabarrassing moment in your life. (I’m usually spectacularly tripping in public with the contents of my purse spewing everywhere. This happens to me so often that it’s losing it’s potentcy to mortify me but it will work for you.)

4. Think about your baby children (circle one) driving/graduating/dating/moving away from you/tripping in public.

5. Think about your parents (circle one) driving/dating/moving in with you/tripping in public.

6. Invite 100 people to your house on a specific day for an OUTDOOR event.

7. Look at your to do list – and then not do it with gusto. Then think about it – then not do it. Sure to get your anxiety motor running.

8. Remind yourself about how they say antibiotics will cease to be affective at some point.

9. Drive across really high bridges. (Or just think about it.)

10. Walk across really high bridges – wearing a bikini – then trip. (Or think about it.)

Hopefully these things will get you all worked up! Way better than a workout. Oh and keep in mind.. we’re not  a doctor. Also the above image is for funny laugh joke time. I don’t smoke. :)

  1. I am the same way. Anxiety = no appetite. Although in the past few years my anxiety has been almost debilitating at times!

I simply love this post. I operate in concrete goals when it comes to exercise: Do it all the way, or not at all. But convincing myself to get started takes plenty of mind games, and I often struggle to find ways to get myself psyched. These sound great and funny and I see what you’re doing here.

Last night I sat around on the couch. In my running gear. For about two hours. Just chilling and trying to work up the anxious state I get before I bolt out and run for my dear life because OMG summer is around the corner. This works sometimes.

I also just paired running with watching The Biggest Looser or Heavy. When I see people my size work out and struggle it motivates me to work hard. Opposed to seeing a perfectly sculpted trainer at the gym , who works hard too, but leads me to conclude: “Oh sure, it’s easy for YOU!”
